In 1986, Will Steger, along with fellow Minnesotan
explorer Paul Shurke and four other team members, made an indelible
mark in exploration history with an unsupported dogsled trek to the
North Pole. It was the first confirmed expedition by dogsled to the
North Pole without resupply. The 57-day expedition also included team
member Ann Bancroft, the first woman to reach the North Pole.
