In 1986, Will Steger, along with fellow Minnesotan explorer Paul Shurke and four other team members, made an indelible mark in exploration history with an unsupported dogsled trek to the North Pole. It was the first confirmed expedition by dogsled to the North Pole without resupply. The 57-day expedition also included team member Ann Bancroft, the first woman to reach the North Pole.
