Today was our second day off. We are giving the dogs a good rest and lots of food, in fact they are not eating any more tonight. They are just full. We’ve been having really great weather. It’s zero degrees Fahrenheit, which is an absolute heat wave. It is dangerous to go out for a walk outside of camp, as it is very easy to get lost. So we spent the day going over gear, cleaning things up, taking snow showers, resting up, getting ready for our travel day tomorrow. And we’re getting the educational report out today. We’re going to be taking Fridays off from now on, and getting the educational information out so it goes online on Monday at PolarHusky.com.
So tomorrow we will get up at 5:45 for another work day. Hugh and I are sitting in the tent tonight relaxing. We had a very leisurely day, reading, relaxing and socializing. It’s been a great day. Very peaceful, we’re in a society and a world of our own here. It’s very meditative. We are all getting along well, which helps considerably, and morale is high.
It’s been a real relief to get this resupply over. In fact, we could never have gotten this resupply done today. Yesterday’s weather foretold some changes, and if yesterday had been a travel day I would have made the decision to stand still. But we are enjoying this weather right now. We are hoping it might lift some tomorrow, as we will have a difficult time traveling if the whiteout conditions continue. We will be traveling with GPS if we can’t see anything.
I wrote a report today in my journal on the strategy that goes into a resupply, which is more than just flying in supplies. So if you are interested in that, that is on the journal posting for today.
