The Pick-up

When Will went to send his latest weather report at 14:30  GMT on July 25th, an urgent message was uploaded alerting him that the helicopter was on its way.  At this point, Will immediately turned off his computer, turned on his radio and climbed atop a pressure ridge to search for the helicopter.  He instantly heard the voice of friend and past expedition teammate, Victor Boyarsky, over the radio and contact was made! The helicopter continued on its routine check of the icebreaker's path once they knew Will's general location.  As soon as the check was over, the helicopter began the search and when the sound of the helicopter engine could be heard, Will shot several flares into the air to mark his position.  The heavy fog had lifted by this point and because of the good visibility, Will was soon spotted.  The helicopter landed on Will's ice island and along with all of his gear, was flown back to the Sovetskiy Soyuz which is now en route to Murmansk.  Will has been resting on the ship and is in good spirits and health.  He is planning on sending out additional journal dispatches later this week.
